My Garden

This morning was lovely and sunny and just right to take a few photos of my garden for you to see.  We have been in this house nearly a year now and when we moved in the garden was a bit unloved and starting to take over. We have about an acre and about a third of that is orchard. Mostly cooking and eating apples, but there are a few damson trees.

It was a busy year trying to keep on top of the garden, but we were determined not to let it get the better of us. I bought quite a few plants with me, but they were just a drop in the ocean when I planted them. Neighbours had told us we were doing a great job and the garden was looking lovely. Their comments kept us focused and encouraged us to keep going. All summer long and every minute we had we worked on the garden. I am pleased to say at the end of the summer we had cleared more than we thought we would.

Beautiful snowdrops are flowering and the daffodils and bluebells are just starting to poke through the ground. I’m getting excited to see what will come up in the garden this year. Friends have been busy saving and dividing plants for us, so the garden should look a lot fuller this year.

Late last year we bought a greenhouse in the sale and it has sat in the garage all winter. Last week we got round to ordering some slabs to put the greenhouse on and yesterday they were delivered. It is now all systems go to lay the slabs and then to erect the greenhouse. It’s going to be a bit of a race really, as some of the plug plants I have ordered have started being delivered. Not sure where I will keep them till I can get them in the greenhouse.

  2. Lovely photographs of the garden, looks like you live in a beautiful village :).
I've just bought a greenhouse myself, but as I don't have a garage I'll have to put it up quickly. Do you want to make it a race?
